Pitot-Static
This app collects no data about you and makes no network requests of its own.
What this app stores
Two things, on your device only. None of it leaves the device, and deleting the app removes all of it.
- Which chapters you have opened and your best score in each quiz
section (stored as
PitotStatic.progress.v1). The chapter list has a Reset progress control at the bottom that clears it at any time. - Starting with version 1.0.1, when the app last asked you for a
rating: the version that asked (stored as
AutoPilot.review.lastAskedVersion) and the date it asked (stored asAutoPilot.review.lastAskedDate). The app asks only right after you pass a quiz, at most once per version and no more than once in 120 days, and these two records are how it keeps to that. They hold nothing else. Reset progress leaves them alone, and deleting the app clears them.
What this app does not do
- No account, sign-in, or email address
- No analytics, tracking, or advertising
- No third-party SDKs of any kind
- No network requests of its own. Every chapter, diagram and quiz question is inside the app, and it works fully in airplane mode. What can leave the device is listed under Links out of the app below, and each item there starts with something you tap or pass.
- No location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos or health access. The app has no permission prompt at all.
- No purchases or subscriptions
Links out of the app
Starting with version 1.0.1, the app has these, and nothing else:
- Privacy Policy and Support. In the More menu at the top of the chapter list, and on the More from AutoPilot screen, these open this page in your browser.
- flywithautopilot.com. The last row of the More from AutoPilot screen opens it in your browser.
- Other AutoPilot apps. Tapping one of them on the More from AutoPilot screen opens Apple's App Store page for that app inside Pitot-Static, rather than in a browser. The page is Apple's, and iOS loads it. If it cannot load, the same listing opens in the App Store instead. The app icons on that screen are built into Pitot-Static, so showing the list loads nothing.
- Rating the app. Apple's own rating prompt may appear shortly after you pass a quiz, within the limits above. iOS draws it, and a rating you choose to give goes to Apple. The app is never told whether you rated it or what you said.
The app itself sends nothing with any of these: no identifier, no progress, nothing about you. Once a page is open in your browser or in Apple's App Store view, that site's or Apple's privacy practices apply rather than this one's.
About the content
The lessons are written from the FAA's own handbooks, the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge (FAA‑H‑8083‑25C) and the Instrument Procedures Handbook (FAA‑H‑8083‑16B), and from Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations. The airspeed markings and V‑speeds used as the worked example are the Cessna 172S figures from its Pilot's Operating Handbook. All diagrams are drawn in the app itself.
This is a study aid for training, not an operational reference. Fly the aircraft's own approved flight manual, its checklists, and current regulations.
